Single Longitudinal Mode Lasers by Using Artificially Controlled Backscattering Erbium Doped Fibers

In this work, we propose and experimentally demonstrate a new distributed short linear cavity fiber laser. At one of the ends, fabricated by commercial femtosecond laser chirped pulse amplifier, an artificially controlled backscattering erbium doped section has been connected. This reflector acts also as saturable absorber, leading to generation tunable switchable single longitudinal-mode emissions. The consists 9 micro-drilled sections about 1cm each randomly spread throughout 2 meters highly fiber. total length is 9.5 m shows mode behavior at all emitted wavelengths. Using kind reflecting multiple single-mode emissions can be obtained. achieved presents pump threshold low 45 mW up 8 different emission lines with optical signal noise ratio 45dB.
